“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”
Scripture tells us that we are all fallen, open to temptation, and capable of great sin. Therefore, our men can benefit spiritually from inviting others to hold us accountable.
James 5:16 “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”
The goal of our Men of Iron Ministry is for our men to grow in their faith, find communal fellowship and friendships, share each other’s burdens, and build each other up. Men of Iron has four facets:
Groups of men (very small), who meet regularly to share with one another, encourage each other, pray for each other and hold each other accountable (led by Elders and Deacons).
Men of Iron Breakfast: Please join us for our monthly Men of Iron Breakfast starting on September 3 at 8:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. This is a wonderful time of food, fellowship, study, and prayer as Christian men. As Proverbs 27:17 says, "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another."
This year, we will be read the book "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis.
The dates for the 2017-2018 year are:
2016: Sept 2nd, Oct 7th, Nov 4th, Dec 2nd
2017: Jan 6th, Feb 3rd, Mar 3rd, Apr 7th, May 5th
Dinner & Devotion
Every three to four months, the men in our church are invited to attend a night of great food and group study. Our past meals have included Steak Night, Chili Night, Wings and Fries Night, and BBQ Night. Following each meal is a devotion, led by one of our elders, that encourages our men to grow in their faith.
Throughout the year, our men are invited to attend several fellowship events, such as a weekend retreat, bowling, white water rafting, a biking trip down the Virginia Creeper Trail, a Charlotte Knight’s game, an annual golf event, and other events.
