Small Groups at SouthLake Church

Mission Statement:  Small Groups at SouthLake Church exist so that church members can  . . .

  • Grow in their faith under the study of God’s Word
  • Develop healthy relationships, friendships, fellowship, and community within the church
  • Pray with and for each other

Here is a list of the current small groups that are meeting:

“Youth Group” Small Group

  • Who Attends: Everyone is welcome, however, this group is particularly offered to those parents whose child/children are attending Youth Group and may be looking for a fellowship opportunity while their child/children attend Youth Group.
  • When: This group meeting every time there is a Sunday night youth group meeting, typically the 1st and 3rd
    Sundays of each month, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. (youth group begins at 5:30).
  • Where: Church Conference Room (no childcare available)
  • Leader: Jack Dundas

    Clanton Group

  • Who Attends: Currently there are families with children, but all are welcome.
  • When: The 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month (try to coordinate with youth group) at 5:30 p.m.
  • Where: The Wilcox Building (this group provides their own childcare)
  • Study: "12 Ordinary men"… A study of the disciples by John MacArthur
  • Leader: Buck Clanton

Arrendale Group

  • Who Attends: Currently, families that have kids who are either in college or who have graduated from college, but all are welcome.
  • When: Every other Friday from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
  • Where: At AAI offices in Cornelius (this is the Arrendale’s office. No childcare provided.)
  • Study: "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis
  • Leader: Del Arrendale—This group occasionally has desserts, eats together, or has special picnics or gatherings.

Young Adult Men’s Group

  • Who Attends: Men who are in their late 20s, 30s, and early 40s
  • When: 1st Tuesday of the Month at 8:00 p.m.
  • Where: Alternates: Duckworth’s in Huntersville or MidTown Sundries in Denver. Most men enjoy an appetizer, meal, or dessert.
  • Study: Over the years, we have studied several books: Tozer’s Pursuit of God, Bridges’ Respectable Sins, and others. Currently, a topical article is distributed by email before each meeting.
  • Leader: Jed Belvin— This group occasionally gets together for special events and meals.

Women's Prayer Group

  • Who Attends: Women of any age
  • When: Every Tuesday from 10:00-11:30am
  • Where: Home of Debbie Hix
  • Leader: Jane Hyland and Debbie Hix

Women's Study Group

  • Who Attends: Women of any age
  • When: Monday Evenings at 6:30pm, approximately 3 times a month
  • Where: Home of Ann Bowen
  • Study: "Bad Girls of the Bible and What We Can Learn From Them" By Liz Curtis Higgs
  • Leader: Ann Bowen and Judy Arrendale
